Andrew Shea & Kevin O’Dwyer Collaborate

In April 2008 Kevin O’Dwyer, Ireland’s premier metalsmith, came to the US to work in my studio with me on a series of glass vessels and perfume bottles combining blown glass with Kevin’s silver work.

Last year, Kevin O’Dwyer was honoured by the Crafts Council of Ireland when he was named as the winner of the 2007 Bursary Award and was presented with a cheque for 19,000 euros by their new CEO, Una Parsons. This funding is to help him research and develop new work and continue to blur the boundaries of fine art and craft. Now in its third year, the Crafts Council of Ireland Bursary is intended to release recipients from their ususal committments so they can invest in the creative development of their craft.
